Meet the Team!
Tina Nelson-Moss, DSW: Director of Risk Assessment / VPTM Case Manager
Tina Nelson-Moss, DSW, serves as the director of the Department of Risk Assessment and chair of the Behavior Assessment Team (BAT) at NC State University, a role she has held since 2008. With over 25 years of experience in violence prevention, behavioral threat assessment and threat management, she approaches her work through a trauma-informed lens. She holds a doctorate in social work, with a published dissertation titled “Participatory Action Research: Threat Assessment Team Training and Team Membership in Universities.” A certified threat manager (CTM) since 2017, she is also a certified master trainer with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s National Threat Evaluation and Reporting Program, among other instructor credentials.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Nelson-Moss deployed to Afghanistan as a clinical social worker in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and was recognized with multiple service awards, including being named Major Command CGO Social Worker of the Year for three consecutive years. Nelson-Moss is an active member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), currently serving as president of the DC mid-Atlantic chapter and contributing to several national committees. She leads with integrity, guided by strong core values, and is passionate about mentoring emerging professionals in the field.
Stacy Fair: Director of Youth Programs and Compliance
Stacy Fair has worked in higher education for over 25 years and currently serves as NC State University’s first director of youth programs and compliance in the Department of Risk Assessment. Previously, she spent 13 years in enrollment management and services as director of the Joyner Visitor Center and the Office of Parents and Families Services. In these roles, she oversaw the Protection of Minors Policy and Procedures and launched the Emerging Scholars Academy residential program. Fair has also collaborated closely with the Recruiters Roundtable and chaired the University Open House committee from 2009 to 2019.
Before joining NC State, Fair held roles at UNC-Greensboro as an academic advisor, assistant registrar and commencement coordinator, contributing to numerous graduation ceremonies and large-scale university events. She holds a master of education in higher education administration from UNC-Greensboro and currently serves on the board of directors for the Higher Education Protection Network (HEPNet). Fair is also a member of the American Camp Association and a trained Praesidium Guardian, conducting site visits for youth-serving organizations seeking accreditation.
Among her more unique professional experiences, Fair earned a CDL to drive tour buses for the Joyner Visitor Center and secured a CFAT grant to install Raleigh’s first level II electric vehicle charging station in its parking lot. In her free time, she enjoys group fitness classes, walking her spirited rescue dog, spending time with family and browsing the local library.
Lauren Shea: Associate Director of Risk Assessment / VPTM Case Manager
Lauren Shea has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work. Prior to joining the Wolfpack, Shea worked in Child Protective Services for over a decade where she held a variety of roles, including investigative social worker, as well as supervisor for investigations, prevention, in-home services, foster care, and after hours. Shea has also worked as an emergency department psychiatric social worker.
Shea joined NC State in Sept. 2022 and serves as the associate director of the Department of Risk Assessment and is one of the Violence Prevention and Threat Management case managers. Shea is a certified QPR Suicide Prevention Instructor and is certified in multiple risk assessment tools. She is also a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP).
Shea is a true Enneagram 2, dedicating her career to helping others and always looking for opportunities to support others outside of work as well. She also loves to sing and spend time with her friends and family.
Jennifer Bills: Assistant Director of Risk Assessment / VPTM Case Manager
Jenni Bills is the assistant director of the NC State Office of Risk Assessment and a violence prevention and threat management case manager. In this role, she leads all training and outreach initiatives for the department. Bills holds a bachelor’s of science in human development and family studies as well as a master’s degree in social work.
Prior to joining NC State, Bills worked as a school social worker for four years in Denver, Colorado. In this role, she was responsible for providing direct mental health services to students, conducting suicide risk assessments and completing assessments for special education services. Additional experience includes working in Child Protective Services as an intake caseworker, volunteering on the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and interning with the Equity and Diversity department of a school district in Nevada.
Outside of work, Bills enjoys swimming, taking long walks with her dog, sewing and reading memoirs.
Sara Thomson: Assistant Director of Risk Assessment / VPTM Case Manager
Sara Thomson is an assistant director of the NC State Department of Risk Assessment and a violence prevention and threat management case manager. Thomson holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in social work.
Prior to joining NC State, Thomson worked for the NC Division of Public Health with a focus on improving the mental wellbeing of birthing people across the state. Before working with the Division of Public Health, Thomson worked as a psychotherapist and clinic manager at a community mental health agency. Her clinical work focused on the treatment of complex trauma, personality disorders, high-risk behaviors, and chronic suicidality.
Off the clock, Thomson loves being outside, whether it’s hiking, relaxing or exploring with her three dogs.
Camille Ward: Assistant Director of Risk Assessment / VPTM Case Manager
Camille Ward is the assistant director of the NC State Department of Risk Assessment and is a case manager in the Office of Violence Prevention and Threat Management. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in social work.
Prior to joining NC State, Ward worked as a clinical program manager in a behavioral health urgent care. In this role, Ward provided crisis intervention, safety planning, and care coordination to community members experiencing a mental health crisis. Additionally, she provided clinical supervision and training to mental health providers providing crisis services. Prior to her crisis work, Ward worked as a psychotherapist and substance use counselor within a medication assisted treatment program, where her clinical work focused on the treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
When she’s not working, Ward can be found curled up with a book, browsing thrift stores for hidden gems, or enjoying the company of her cats.
Anali Casanova: Support Specialist
Anali Casanova is the support specialist for the Department of Risk Assessment. Casanova graduated from NC State University in 2020 with a bachelor’s in psychology and a bachelor’s in sociology. She previously worked at a therapy office in Raleigh as a wellness coordinator. In this role, she managed schedules, client referrals, office operations and assisted with clients’ billing and insurance needs. Casanova has also worked in escrow, customer service, data entry and account management. Additional career experience includes working as an education coordinator and as a small business administrative assistant.
In her spare time, Casanova enjoys traveling, spending time with family and watching her comfort TV show, Grey’s Anatomy.
Julia Martins de Sa: Marketing Manager
Julia Martins de Sa is the department’s marketing manager, overseeing social media strategy, website management, and the development of both digital and print marketing materials. She holds a bachelor’s of science in visual communication from Ohio University and brings a strong background in photography and creative content production.
Prior to joining the NC State team, she served as a creative content specialist at Guilford Technical Community College, where she led a variety of visual storytelling and branding initiatives.
Outside of work, Martins de Sa enjoys cuddling with her cat, diving into a good book, crafting and soaking up sunshine whenever she can.
