These resources are not offered by NC State but are great supplements for parents, guardians and those working with minors.

Below are a list of resources to supplement the resources provided by the university. While not officially associated with NC State, these resources are frequently referred to those who work with minors or have minors on campus.

American Camp Association: Camps on Campus

The American Camp Association: Camps on Campus provides research and toolkit articles relevant to many topics in providing programs for youth. There are also articles specific to ACA’s Core Competencies and Standards.

Praesidium

Praesidium has conducted and compiled over 25 years of research. Their experts provide valuable insight for protecting minors from abuse. They have compiled resources for a wide range of topics from bullying prevention to hiring and screening.

Redwoods Group

Redwoods Group is a non-traditional insurance partner for youth programs.

Redwoods also offers child abuse prevention resources and research.

Shine a Light

This video from Shine a Light is designed to help all members of our community understand their responsibility in keeping minors safe from abuse. Please share widely as you see fit in your units.

Positive Childhood Alliance

The Positive Childhood Alliance raises awareness of strategies that nurture positive childhoods; advocate for policies that put children and families first; and provide training, technical assistance and support to professionals delivering programs and implementing strategies proven to strengthen families.

Response Institute / CPR Consultants, Inc.

The Response Institute and CPR Consultants fills the gaps in the chain of survival, empowering responders from all walks of life for safety and emergency response readiness. 

Stewards of Children from Darkness to Light

Darkness to Light’s flagship training, Stewards of Children®, teaches adults practical actions they can take to reduce instances of child sexual abuse in their organizations, families, and communities. Through interviews with a large group of people with a variety of lived experiences, experts, and treatment providers, Stewards of Children® is one of the only award-winning, evidence-informed, adult-focused child sexual abuse prevention trainings in the United States proven to increase knowledge and change behavior.

National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation whose mission is to help find missing children, reduce child sexual exploitation, and prevent child victimization. NCMEC works with families, victims, private industry, law enforcement, and the public to assist with preventing child abductions, recovering missing children, and providing services to deter and combat child sexual exploitation.

Center for Child Counseling

Center for Child Counseling is building the foundation for playful, healthful, and hopeful living for children, families, and communities. The Center for Child Counseling works to build healthier, safer, more nurturing families and communities – where all children have the opportunity to thrive.
