The Speaker Committee for the 2026 NC Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Symposium is currently accepting presentation proposals from experienced practitioners, researchers and multidisciplinary teams. We are seeking sessions that are evidence-based and relevant to real-world challenges within the threat assessment space. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Threat assessment frameworks and implementation
- Behavioral intervention and case management
- School and campus safety strategies
- Multidisciplinary team coordination
- Legal, ethical and policy considerations
- Emerging trends, research and case studies

Presenter Timeline

The Call for Speakers form will close at 11:59 p.m.

The Speaker Committee will review proposals and finalize speaker selections.

Presenter FAQs
What presentation formats will be supported at the Talley Student Union?
Talley Student Union supports slide deck presentations and offers video and audio capabilities. If your presentation requires more specific equipment, you will have the opportunity to specify your needs in the Call for Speakers form.
What is the deadline to submit my final presentation materials?
Final presentation materials must be submitted by June 22, 2026.
How long should my presentation be?
When you submit your Call for Speakers form, you will have the option to select how long you would like to give your presentation. The options are 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, or 1 hour and 15 minutes.
What is the expected audience size and background?
We anticipate roughly 200 attendees, most of whom will have some violence prevention and threat management background. Attendees are likely to work in higher education, K-12, or social work, law enforcement and counseling professions.
Can I present remotely, if needed?
At this time, we are only considering speakers that can present in person. This is subject to change. If you have specific questions about potentially presenting remotely, reach out to env-health-vptm@ncsu.edu.
Should I bring my own laptop, thumb drive, etc.?
We will provide a laptop should you need to present a slide deck, video, audio file, etc. Presenters will be required to submit their final presentation materials by June 22.
Travel and Accommodation FAQs
Will NC State cover my travel expenses?
Yes, NC State will cover travel expenses for all presenters.
Will NC State cover my hotel/lodging expenses?
Yes, NC State will cover lodging expenses for all presenters.
Will transportation be provided to and from the airport? To and from the hotel to Talley Student Union?
Transportation to and from the airport (if applicable) will not be provided. We may provide transportation to and from the hotel to Talley Student Union, but NC State may offer free transportation options. Visit our Hotel and Travel page for more information.
Are there recommended hotels or room blocks?
At this time, we do not have a room block at any local hotels. Visit our Hotel and Travel page for more information on lodging options in Raleigh.
Are accommodations available for disabilities?
Talley Student Union is fully accessible with access to both stairs and an elevator. Additional amenities at Talley include:
- A dedicated lactation room on the fourth floor in room 4122. To make a reservation, use our google calendar.
- An Interfaith Prayer and Meditation room, located in room 2116. This room is available during building hours.
- Multiple single occupant restrooms
- First Floor – Room 1201B (Starbucks)
- Third Floor – Room 3250 (By the State Ballroom)
- Fourth Floor – Room 4243 (Past Student Government)
- Fifth Floor – Room 5244 (Past LGBTQ Pride Center)
