Violence Prevention and Threat Management

The Violence Prevention and Threat Management (VPTM) program works to identify, deescalate and reduce threats or acts of violence impacting the NC State community.

Submit a referral

If you’re unsure whether a situation warrants filling out a Concerning Behavior Referral, we encourage you to submit one. Submitting a referral allows our team to assess the information and determine appropriate next steps.

The Violence Prevention and Threat Management (VPTM) team collaborates with campus partners to address concerning behaviors such as threats, stalking, interpersonal violence and other violations of NC State’s REG 04.05.02 – Campus/Workplace Violence Prevention and Management.

Every submitted Concerning Behavior Referral (CBR) is promptly investigated. We prioritize the confidentiality and safety of anyone who submits a referral or raises concerns about potential campus violence. All referrals are handled as confidentially as possible, with information shared only on a need-to-know basis or as required by law. For more information about next steps once a CBR has been submitted, visit our What Happens Next? page.
